Britney Spears Investigated For Child Abuse

While reports that the SPCA has dropped their investigation into her injured terrier pup should come as good news to Britney Spears, possible allegations of child abuse have put the troubled pop star’s celebrations on hold.

The most recent development in the Spears - Federline custody battle took an unexpected turn today (August 27), as an unscheduled hearing at Los Angeles County Superior Court was held to look into the child abuse allegations.

Access Hollywood reports that lawyers for both Britney and Kevin attended the hearing in dependency court, which handles child abuse claims, among other things. Britney, however, did not make an appearance, as could be expected.

“If the county feels the kids are at risk, they will begin an investigation. If they find either or both parents aren’t capable or unwilling to parent the children, the county will file a petition in juvenile court,” LA criminal defense attorney Steve Cron told Access Hollywood.

“If that happens, Britney and Kevin would be allowed a ‘full blown’ hearing where they can bring witnesses and experts to testify on their behalf. The judge would then decide if the county needs to step in, possibly taking over custody of the kids,” Cron added.

All of the details from the hearing are confidential and no comment has been made by Britney’s camp at this time. Be sure to check back with the Gossip Girls for continuing coverage on the latest Britney Spears custody battle developments.

Update: TMZ sources say “the complaint lodged with DCFS involves allegations of poor dental hygiene, as well as poor eating and sleeping habits for her kids.” There is also some belief that Federline was responsible for filing the complaint. Stay tuned for more.

Mallika Sherawat

This bombshell was the clear winner. Her sizzling number in Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Kaa Surroor boosted her already popular status.

Mallika Sherawat

This bombshell was the clear winner. Her sizzling number in Himesh Reshammiya's Aap Kaa Surroor boosted her already popular status.
Bipasha Basu

This dusky beauty is another favourite among our readers. Her number Beedi Jalaile (Omkara) was so smoking hot that she set a new bar for item numbers.

Shilpa Shetty

This actress has come a long way. From a fashion disaster in Bazigaar to a chic and stylish one post Big Brother, Shilpa has had a stunning makeover.

And with it comes cool confidence, quite evident in her performances. Remember the number Main Ayee Hoo UP Bihar Lootne number from Shool?

Helen

But who can beat the original item diva?

She mesmerised the audiences with her moves and innovative dances, whether it was belly dancing in Mehbooba (Sholay) or a cabaret (Teesri Manzil).

Her memorable item in Sholay has spawned two mehboobas already -- Mallika Sherawat and Urmila Matondkar!

No one can move quite the way she did, proving the adage that old is really gold!

Katie Holmes and Suri Take A Fall In Paris

There’s nothing more embarrassing than falling down in front of a bunch of people with a baby in your arms. Just ask Katie Holmes. She took a fall yesterday in Paris.

The Dawson’s Creek hottie decided to take a break from husband Tom Cruise’s movie set and headed off to Paris. She was on a shopping spree when the unfortunate event occurred.

The Teaching Mrs Tingle (I bet she hoped we’d forget about that film) actress twisted her ankle and took a spill, resulting in a scraped knee. And Suri went with her.

The good news is that the littlest Cruise was completely unharmed, and didn’t seem to notice that anything was wrong. The quick reaction of a bodyguard was responsible for keeping the two safe during the fall.

Enjoy the pictures of Katie and Suri’s Paris adventures over the past few days. If you look closely enough, you can even see Katie’s scraped knee in a few of the shots.

Miss Body Beautifuls

Miss Body Beautifuls can never make it to the A-League?

They may be every woman's inspiration and every man's fantasy, but in spite of their flat tummies and long legs, some actresses still fall 'short'... of luck maybe, or of being taken more seriously as actors. While the likes of Bipasha Basu, Shilpa Shetty can boast of their much-in-tone hot bods, the not-in-perfect-shape actors (female) like Rani Mukherjee and Kajol can boast of having enjoyed their stint at the pinnacle. May be their well-rounded bosoms represented the Indian woman only too well, and their 'there's something about them' characteristic only swept the men off their feet...

In the past, too, we've had some well-endowed women ruling the box office. Sridevi and Madhuri, for example. Thunder thighs may now have become thanda, and hot bodies may have DQ's (drool quotients) rocketing sky-high. But then it's still a pleasure watching the imperfectly shaped Vidya Balan look so classic in Parineeta . It comes with looking Indian, we say! Kareena Kapoor, too, may have lost tons of weight of late, but the drastic change in body celluloid has only ensued in an equal proportion of criticism coming her way. Nonetheless, the fair lady has shone brightest when at her healthiest best.

Now, that quite doesn't mean one lets go of oneself, and that it ain't good to look hot and sexy. It's perfect for Hollywood aspirants waiting to be roped in as Bond girls. Miss Perfect Ten, Shilpa Shetty, for example, has had her share of fame in Bollywood, but London seems to be treating her highness with much more royalty and respect. Nothing to take away from her acting, obviously. She has always done a fabulous job...and will always be a Metro girl.

And while SS is busy launching perfumes and doing Broadway Shows, loving the smell of every fresh pound in her bank account, Esha Deol is losing her pounds back home. She has got into tremendous shape, and endorsements, too, seem to be making their way into the lap of this current hot pin-up poster girl. But never mind the Big Brothers and pro-Vogue, where are the Big Pictures and Provoked , we ask, Mr. Directors?

Barring Ash and Priyanka, not many BB's (Body Beautifuls) have been fortunate enough to make it to the A-League. That's because their bodies will always take precedence over their acting prowess. It's the survival of the fittest, yes, but being the 'fittest' may just not be good enough – you'll survive but won't rule. Because it's only easier for the gorgeous bombshells to be tucked away into the glam backgrounds. It may not be 'prop'er, but c'est la vie!

Lindsay Lohan Stays Active

She’s been dealt a pretty tough hand, but Lindsay Lohan isn’t taking her rehab sitting down. It looks like the best medicine for a dying film career and addictive personality is… the outdoors!

Residents of Orem, Utah have been treated to an influx of paparazzi, as well as a crazy redhead running around their town (I bet they love it). LiLo has been taking bike rides and hiking the mountains near her Mormon rehab home.

Reportedly, the Mean Girls actress is also taking part in some whitewater rafting and rollerblading as a means of passing the time. Hey, I’m sure it beats the hell out of scrubbing toilets and washing dishes.

As a bonus, Lindsay is enjoying a visit from her mother, Dina. The former Mrs. Michael Lohan (they just divorced) touched down in Salt Lake City on Monday and will be staying for a few days to check in on her daughter.

Enjoy the pictures of Lindsay out taking a hike with her rehab mates and a few canine friends on Monday (August 20).

The Best Butt in Hollywood

The Best Butt in Hollywood

Jennifer Lopez's famous derriere has been voted the 'best butt' in Hollywood.

The list -- The Top 10 Best Bottoms In Hollywood -- was released by The Sun.

So what's in this year? Shapely, curvy women with plenty of backside dominate the list, which reflects a recent Hollywood trend towards full-figured beauties.

Jennifer Lopez

It came as no surprise that JLo successfully defended her 'seat' on the throne. Her perfect posterior has dropped jaws and widened eyes for nearly a decade.

Beyonce
Her pet-name is 'Bootylicious' Beyonce, and with good reason.

One warning: Look, but don't touch. The voluptuous singer cum actor is dating beefy rapper Jay-Z.

Jessica Biel

Justin Timberlake's current heartthrob has all the right assets. It's no wonder she's taken Hollywood by storm.

Cameron Diaz

Right below Justin's current flame is ex-beaux Cameron Diaz. With the list dominated by curvy women with full-figures, Cameron's cute, dainty bottom is always welcome.

Fergie

The Black Eyed Peas' lead singer Fergie's meteoric rise to fame has been nothing short of amazing. In 2000, she was battling drug addiction. By 2007, she was voted Maxim magazine's 10th hottest woman on the planet. Her hit single Glamorous has become a favourite in India's hip night-clubs.

Halle Berry

Halle Berry's picturesque beauty has long been known in Hollywood. But it wasn't until 2002's Monster's Ball, and her nude scene with Billy Bob Thornton, that Berry became an international sex symbol.

Eva Longoria

In 2005 and 2006, Maxim magazine named the spicy Latina the #1 hottest woman in the world. She was the first to ever win the honour twice.

Don't get your hopes up, guys. This summer, Eva married long-time boyfriend, basketball star Tony Parker.

Kim Kardashian

She may not be as famous as the other stars on the list, but this buxom beauty lets her body do the talking. Whether she's out socialising with Paris Hilton or spending her father's money (Kim's father Robert Kardashian famously defended OJ Simpson), she's definitely looking good.

Tyra Banks

After years of dominating the runway in Milan, Paris and London, Tyra seemed almost bored with modelling. She traded the stilettos for a microphone and now hosts her own talk show, The Tyra Banks Show. It goes without saying -- she's the hottest thing on daytime television.

Mariah Carey

'Rounding' out the list is uber-diva Mariah Carey. Far more experienced than the other stars on this list, the vivacious singer has resurrected her career and is back atop the A-list of Hollywood celebrities.

Hawke: Not Easy Being in Celeb Marriage

Hawke: Not Easy Being in Celeb Marriage

Ethan Hawke, whose split from Uma Thurman caused a tabloid frenzy, says being part of a celebrity couple can be hard on the ego.

"It's unfair when one person's career is taking off and the other is really suffering," the 36-year-old actor tells AMC's "Shootout" in an interview slated to air Sunday.

"What happens it's not that they're jealous of each other; it's that the person you share your life with isn't in the mood to support," Hawke says. "You want to have a pity party for yourself, but they're off to the Golden Globes and you don't want to go because everyone is going to think you are jealous."

Hawke and Thurman were married in 1998. She filed for divorce in 2004. The couple have two children.

"There's a certain geometry to life that life has a certain math equation to it and if you're never together, you can't build a home," Hawke says. "Joanne Woodward put her career on the back burner for that marriage (to Paul Newman) to last. And something's got to give."

Hawke received an Oscar nomination for his role in 2001's "Training Day." His film credits also include "Dead Poets Society," "Great Expectations" and "Before Sunset."

Thurman, 37, has starred in "The Producers" and the "Kill Bill" movies. She was nominated for an Oscar for her role in 1994's "Pulp Fiction."

Hawke Confesses Thurman's Success and His Failure Wrecked Marriage

HOLLYWOOD - Ethan Hawke's marriage to Uma Thurman floundered when her career took off and his began to fail, the actor has confessed.

The pair ended their six-year marriage in 2004, when Thurman's career was on the rise and Hawke's was beginning to wane.

Speaking on talk show Sunday Morning Shootout--due to air this weekend--the actor says, "It's unfair when one person's career is taking off and the other is really suffering.

"What happens--it's not that they're jealous of each other; it's that the person you share your life with isn't in the mood to support. You want to have a pity party for yourself, but they're off to the Golden Globes and you don't want to go because everyone is going to think you are jealous.

Full Biography

A self-described "slob" who has been named repeatedly to People magazine's Worst Dressed List, Ethan Hawke began fashioning his career as a Gen-X Renaissance Man, publishing a modestly-acclaimed novel, co-founding a Manhattan theater company, and stepping behind the camera to helm music videos and films, in addition to acting. Possessing WASP-ish good looks and a disarming air of sincerity, he began taking acting classes at Princeton University's McCarter Theater, and his stage debut there at age 13 in "St. Joan" led to a successful audition for "Explorers" (1985), Joe Dante's underappreciated teen sci-fi film (which also marked the feature debut of River Phoenix). The film flopped, and Hawke, encouraged by his mother, left acting for several years before returning with a well-received performance as a shy, sensitive prep school student in Peter Weir's "Dead Poets Society" (1989), followed quickly that same year by "Dad", in which he played Jack Lemmon's grandson.
Hawke's early films invariably cast him in coming-of-age roles, and though he gave a strong performance as a young prospector in the Disney version of Jack London's adventure "White Fang", he also took the black comedy "Mystery Date" (both 1991), despite realizing the script had problems. He made his Off-Broadway debut in the New York Shakespeare Festival production of "Casanova" that year before returning to student mode for "Waterland" (1992), an arresting British film about a desperate, middle-aged high school history teacher (Jeremy Irons) seemingly trapped by his past. Hawke was also forceful and credible as the narrator and reluctant squad leader in the underrated but eloquent, antiwar drama "A Midnight Clear" (also 1992), adapted from the WWII-era novel by William Wharton. During a busy 1993, he appeared in three features (most notably "Alive", a surprisingly upbeat story about survival after a plane crash in the Andes); wrote, directed and edited the short film "Straight to One" about a pair of young honeymooners; and co-founded Malaparte., a not-for-profit theater group in NYC.

Hawke enjoyed a high profile lead as Winona Ryder's grubby, cynical boyfriend with artistic pretensions in the Gen-X romantic comedy "Reality Bites" (1994), which opened to extremely mixed reviews and disappointing box office. He went on to team with Richard Linklater for the first time on "Before Sunrise" (1995), a radical departure from the Texas slacker scene of the director's first two features. A European train journey introduces Hawke to the beautiful Julie Delpy, and their mutual attraction causes them to detrain and explore Venice, sharing their first kiss on the same Ferris wheel Orson Welles featured in "The Third Man" (1940). Linklater's literate, sensitive treatment of a brief romantic interlude between two young people with their lives stretching out before them upped Hawke's sensitive hunk quotient with the ladies, who were certain he was just the man to listen attentively to their hopes and aspirations. He then disappeared from the screen for two years to write a novel, "The Hottest State" (Little, Brown, 1996), which garnered him ridicule, despite some good reviews and one critic telling him, "Well, I was going to put it on my list of the year's 10 best books. But then I figured you didn't need it." (Daily Telegraph, February 11, 2000).

After undergoing an intense exercise regimen with a personal trainer, Hawke returned to the screen looking buff for his first "adult" role in the futuristic thriller "Gattaca" (1997), his biggest-budget feature to that time. He delivered a strong performance as a genetically-inferior man who assumes the identity of a superior athlete in order to realize his dream of space travel. He also got the girl on screen and off, later marrying co-star Uma Thurman. Alfonso Cuaron's modern-day version of "Great Expectations" (also 1997) teamed him romantically with Gwyneth Paltrow and gave him a chance to act with Robert De Niro, though the box office numbers were uninspiring. He then reteamed with Linklater alongside Matthew McConaughey, Skeet Ulrich and Vincent D'Onofrio for the Texas director's biopic of the bank-robbing "The Newton Boys" (1998), playing Jess Newton, the drunken, charming brother. He also had small roles in "The Velocity of Gary", which reunited him with executive producer-star D'Onofrio, and in "Joe the King" (both 1999), the feature directorial debut of his Malaparte. mate Frank Whaley.

Hawke once again provided a film's still center as star of Scott Hicks' "Snow Falling on Cedars" (1999), essaying an American journalist in a doomed interracial love affair. Having never remained long from the stage, he appeared as Kilroy in that year's Williamstown Theatre Festival revival of Tennessee Williams' "Camino Real" before taking on the Bard as Michael Almereyda's Gen-X "Hamlet" (2000), delivering the immortal "To be or not to be" monologue in the aisles of a Blockbuster video store. The youngest actor to ever play the role onscreen, Hawke's "slacker prince" came across a bit too bland, allowing supporting players Sam Shepard (as the ghost of Hamlet's father) and Kyle MacLachlan (as the usurping Claudius) to steal this engaging "Hamlet"-lite. He reteamed with Julie Delpy for one scene in Richard Linklater's eye-popping animated feature "Waking Life" and then starred with his wife, Uma Thurman, and Robert Sean Leonard in Linklater's digitally-shot "Tape" (both 2001). That same year, Hawke held his own opposite Denzel Washington playing a rookie L.A. policeman paired with a loose cannon partner who plays by his own rules in the uneven "Training Day". While Washington earned the lion's share of critical acclaim, Academy voters didn't overlook the younger actor's contributions and bestowed on Hawke a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination.

Having directed a short and a music video, it was only to be a matter of time before Hawke would turn his attention to feature filmmaking. Joining the ranks of those intrigued by digital video, he shot "Chelsea Walls" (filmed in 1999; released theatrically in 2002), an adaptation of Dylan Thomas' "Under Milkwood" set at NYC's famed Chelsea Hotel. Among the ensemble cast were Thurman and old Malaparte. pals Frank Whaley, Steve Zahn and Robert Sean Leonard. Hawke also had a featured role in Whaley's second film "The Jimmy Show" (2002) and found time to write and publish a second novel, "Ash Wednesday" (Alfred A. Knopf, 2002). His next project, which came on the heels of his highly publicized spilt from Uma Thurman amid allegations of infidelity on his part, was the subpar erotic thriller "Taking Lives" (2004) opposite Angelina Jolie. The actor fared better in the well-assembled remake of the police thriller "Assault on Precinct 13" (2005), playing a burnt-out desk sergeant mourning the death of two partners who must defend his precinct house against a violent invasion to free a drug lord.

Uma Thurman

This daughter of a Columbia University professor and a former model-turned-psychotherapist is named after a Hindu goddess. Tall, sylph-like and solemn-eyed, Uma Thurman moved to NYC at age 16 and like her mother, began her career as a Click model, posing for numerous magazines. The blonde beauty segued to acting in 1987 with the independent feature "Kiss Daddy Good Night", as a young seductress who entices men only to rob them. Thurman received wide attention as the perfectly buxom, virginal victim of John Malkovich's seduction in Stephen Frears' "Dangerous Liaisons" (1998) before furthering her visibility as the Goddess of Love in Terry Gilliam's madcap opus "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" (1989)....

Full Biography

This daughter of a Columbia University professor and a former model-turned-psychotherapist is named after a Hindu goddess. Tall, sylph-like and solemn-eyed, Uma Thurman moved to NYC at age 16 and like her mother, began her career as a Click model, posing for numerous magazines. The blonde beauty segued to acting in 1987 with the independent feature "Kiss Daddy Good Night", as a young seductress who entices men only to rob them. Thurman received wide attention as the perfectly buxom, virginal victim of John Malkovich's seduction in Stephen Frears' "Dangerous Liaisons" (1998) before furthering her visibility as the Goddess of Love in Terry Gilliam's madcap opus "The Adventures of Baron Munchausen" (1989).
Thurman's powerful performance as June, the controlling wife of Henry Miller in Philip Kaufman's "Henry and June" (1990), revealed her to be an actress with considerable depth and ability. She turned in another strong performance as a blind woman targeted by a serial killer in Bruce Robinson's dark "Jennifer 8" (1992) and played an indentured servant to cop Robert De Niro and gangster Bill Murray in the unusual gangster romance "Mad Dog and Glory" (1993). Gus Van Sant's lumbering "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" (1994), a long-awaited but unsatisfying adaptation of the popular Tom Robbins novel, virtually wasted the actress in the leading role of hitchhiker Sissy Hankshaw. But these roles were merely warm-ups for her strong turn as a drug addicted gangster's wife in Quentin Tarantino's acclaimed "Pulp Fiction" (1994). After engaging in a twist with co-star John Travolta, her character overdoses and in a truly shocking and disturbing scene, Travolta is forced to plunge a needle in her chest. For her efforts, she was rewarded with a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination.

While Thurman garnered praise for her turn as a young coquette flirting with Edward Fox in John Irving's "A Month by the Lake" (1995), the film stumbled at the box office. She fared slightly better in Ted Demme's ensemble drama "Beautiful Girls" (1996), as an outsider visiting a small town. Thurman next played against type as a less than intellectual blonde helping friend Janeane Garofalo win a handsome beau in the comedy "The Truth About Cats and Dogs" (1996). Shifting gears, she offered a scene-stealing turn as villainess Poison Ivy to George Clooney's Dark Knight in "Batman & Robin" (1997). Thurman then returned to a more conventional role as the upright, somewhat frosty and passive worker in a futuristic space program who is romanced by a co-worker in the futuristic thriller "Gattaca" (also 1997). She followed with a highly-praised performance as Fantine in Bille August's 1998 remake of "Les Miserables" before teaming with Ralph Fiennes as Emma Peel to his John Steed in a big screen version of the hit 60s TV show "The Avengers" (also 1998), which was poorly received by critics and audiences alike.

There was a noticable slowing down of Thurman's career as she settled into her new role as wife and mother. However, she did find time to take roles which appealed to her. She appeared to good effect in small roles in non-mainstream projects, both in Woody Allen's winning "The Sweet and the Lowdown" in 1999 and her husband Hawke's high-minded art film "Chelsea Walls" in 2001. In 2002, she received positive reviews for her role in the HBO film "Hysterical Blindness." Thurman played successfully against type as a desperately insecure working-class girl from New Jersey who, along with her best friend from high school (Juliette Lewis), spends her nights patrolling the local bar for love and some kind of direction. By 2003 she was a media darling all over again, for both professional and personal reasons: shortly after her high-profile separation from Hawke, she returned to screens under the direction of Quentin Tarantino in "Kill Bill, Vol. 1" (2003) and "Kill Bill, Vol. 2" (2004), the writer-director's bloody two-part magnum opus and tribute to the beloved exploitation films and Sergio Leone movies of his youth, based on a notion he and Thurman cooked up on the set of "Pulp Fiction" years earlier. Thurman, in a bravura performance, played The Bride, a nameless woman beaten and left for dead who arises from a coma to wrek ultra-violent vengeance on her betrayer and his martial artist minions. The actress never looked more beautiful or formidable on screen. In between "Bill" instalments, Thurman also appeared opposite Ben Affleck in the John Woo-directed sci fi thriller "Paycheck" (2003).

Thurman looked resplendent as a one-time rock group costumer-turned-record exec who falls for John Travolta's Chili Palmer in "Be Cool" (2005), the entertaining sequel to "Get Shorty"--reunited with her "Pulp Fiction" co-star, Thurman enjoyed another on-screen dance sequence with Travolta--this time more sensual and romantic then frenetic, and equally compelling. Next she went toe-to-toe with Meryl Streep in the romantic comedy "Prime" (2005) as a 37-year-old woman reeling from a divorce woking through intimacy issues with her therapist (Streep), reinvigorated by her affair with a much-younger man who happens to be her therapist's son. Then it was on to singing and dancing Mel Brooks-style alongside Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane in "The Producers: The Movie Musical" (2005) as the Broadway duo's sensual, leggy and English-challenged secretary Ulla. She then joined Luke Wilson for "Super Ex Girlfriend" (2006), in which Wilson learns his girlfriend is a superhero and breaks up with her when she gets too controlling and neurotic, prompting her to use her powers to exact revenge by tormenting and embarrassing him.

Man sentenced in Heather Mills case

A photographer convicted of assaulting Heather Mills was sentenced Thursday to 140 hours of community service.

Jay Kaycappa, 32, was one of a group of photographers who pursued Mills, the estranged wife of former Beatle Paul McCartney, as she cycled through Brighton, in southern England, in July 2006.

Mills, 39, has said she ducked into an underground passage to avoid the paparazzi. She testified that Kaycappa cornered her and grabbed her shoulder to swing her around and take her picture.

A British court convicted Kaycappa in July. He was also convicted of assaulting Mills' friend Mark Payne the following evening.

The photographer's lawyer said he would appeal.

Mills and McCartney, 65, are in divorce proceedings. They have a 3-year-old daughter, Beatrice

Pamela Anderson now in love with a magician

Hollywood siren Pamela Anderson has confirmed that she is seeing Las Vegas illusionist Hans Klok.

The Baywatch beauty is currently performing with Klok as his assistant in his magic shows.

She told American TV chat show host Craig Ferguson: 'There's a lot of love backstage. It's very physical, it's very loving.' Former Baywatch also says that she plans to quit Hollywood because she loves her "glamorous" role alongside illusionist Hans Klok.

She has been signed up to stay on at Klok's Las Vegas magic show until the end of the year, sources reported.

Anderson said on her website: "I love theatre. My entrance broke on stage tonight. Crazy. But those are the moments. I'm having the best time. I want to be in Vegas forever. So glamorous.

"I'm rehearsing another illusion tonight. I'm definitely staying till December. Then who knows? No more TV or film. This is what I love doing. It's so over the top."

Jolie's Sexual Sacrifices for Brad Pitt

Angelina Jolie’s bisexuality has been well documented. However, after falling for beau Brad Pitt, she’s not only given up on lesbian, but also kinky sex.

Jolie has never hidden the fact that she had enjoyed a ten-year relationship with model Jenny Shimizu, or that she used to cut herself with knives during sex.

But now the actress insists that her days of sleeping with women, and indulging in S&M are over.

“I’ve never hidden my bisexuality. But since I’ve been with Brad, there’s no longer a place for that or S&M in my life,” The Sun quoted her, as telling French magazine Public.

The Oscar winning star also revealed to the mag that Pitt trusts her not to cheat on him, and that’s why he lets her talk to anyone she wants to.

“He lets me talk to whomever I want. He has complete blind faith in me,” she said.

Jolie’s interview rubbishes reports that she and Pitt are close to splitting.

Brit's Assistant Gets Served

Britney Spears' parenting skills just got served...as did her most trusted hanger-on.

Alli Sims, Spears' honorary cousin, off-on personal assistant and wannabe pop star, was subpoenaed at a Hollywood house party early Sunday in connection with Spears and Kevin Federline's ongoing custody battle, a source confirmed to E! News.

Sims, who recently returned to the post of Spears' right-hand woman after being briefly displaced earlier this year, was served with the legal papers just after 2:30 a.m. Sunday while leaving a party in the Hollywood Hills. While Spears was also in attendance at the party, the star did not witness the serving.

The deposition subpoena, issued at the behest of Federline's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, requires Sims to testify about Spears' parenting skills in the ex-couple's custody case and was served guerrilla style by IMS Security's Aaron Cohen.

Sims was leaving the bash with music producer J.R. Rotem, who's overseeing Spears' comeback project, and despite evasive action by Sims and Rotem, Cohen managed to serve the subpoena by forcing the document through an open car window.

Kaplan is expected to question Sims on everything from what and how frequently Spears feeds sons Sean Preston, 23 months, and Jayden James, 11 months, how late they are allowed to stay up, how much time mom spends caring for the boys and Spears' party habits.

Last Wednesday, Federline filed documents requesting "primary physical custody of his two children" in Los Angeles Superior Court, amid increasing tabloid reports of Spears' erratic behavior and questionable parenting prowess. The next hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.

But the 26-year-old Sims may not be the most impartial witness. While there is some question as to whether they are blood relations, she and Britney grew up together in Louisiana and have been inseparable for much of Spears' tenure in Hollywood.

Even after Sims left Spears' employ earlier this year, she had nothing but glowing things to say about Britney. Sims told People earlier this month that Spears is "a wonderful mom, and she is so hands-on...Britney loves those babies to death. And they adore her."

Clearly, Spears had a slightly better rapport with Sims than her replacement. Just three weeks after hiring her as a personal assistant, Spears gave Shannon Funk her walking papers last month, in the wake of a disastrous, image-damaging OK! magazine cover story in which Funk was alleged to have purloined several designer goods from the shoot. A source told E! Online at the time that Spears thought Funk was "rude," "unprofessional" and trying to control her.

Shortly afterward, Spears reportedly rehired Sims.

Meanwhile, while Spears and Federline's custody battle is heating up, their marriage has finally wound down. On July 30, a judge signed off on the couple's divorce, with the duo agreeing, at least for the time being, to split custody of the boys and for Spears to pay Federline $15,000 a month in child support.

Timberlake, Beyonce top VMA nominations

NEW YORK (AP) — Justin Timberlake and Beyonce lead the pop parade of nominees for the MTV Video Music Awards with seven nods apiece, it was announced Tuesday.

Beyonce's "Irreplaceable" was nominated for video of the year, as was Timberlake's ambitiously cinematic "What Goes Around ... Comes Around," which co-starred Scarlett Johansson. Also competing in the category are Amy Winehouse's "Rehab," Kanye West's "Stronger," Rihanna's "Umbrella" (featuring Jay-Z) and Justice's "D.A.N.C.E."

Timberlake was also nominated for male artist of the year and "most earth shattering collaboration" for pairing with Timbaland for "Sexy Back." Beyonce was nominated for female artist of the year and for her collaboration with Shakira on "Beautiful Liar."

West landed five nominations, including male artist of the year. He has often appeared prickly about losing awards, and on Tuesday he was still sore over being snubbed last year for his Evel Knievel spoof video "Touch the Sky." (In 2005, he did win best male video for "Jesus Walks.")

"I come to win. I don't come to lose," West told MTV Tuesday on "TRL," where the awards were announced. "I think there's some really strong competition this year."

Rihanna also received five nominations, propelled by her hit single, "Umbrella," which is up for "monster single of the year."

Also nominated for male artist of the year was Akon, T.I. and Robin Thicke. Rounding out the nominees for female artist of the year were Fergie and Nelly Furtado.

Amy Winehouse, whose album "Back to Black" was her second disc but her first released in the U.S., was nominated for best new artist. She received three nods, including female artist of the year. In the best new artist category, Winehouse will compete with her compatriot Lily Allen, as well as Carrie Underwood, Gym Class Heroes and Peter Bjorn & John.

Up for best group are Fall Out Boy, Gym Class Heroes, Linkin Park, Maroon 5 and the White Stripes.

The 24th annual VMAs will be handed out during a live two-hour show on Sept. 9 in Las Vegas at the Palms Hotel and Casino. Only eight categories will be awarded on the broadcast. Performers will include Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Amy Winehouse, Chris Brown, the Foo Fighters and Rihanna.

Timbaland will serve as "maestro" for the night, booking the show's acts.

"By me being maestro," said Timbaland, "I am the show."

Funds crunch in Malawi delays adoption check-up on Madonna

A government funds crunch is delaying a home visit to pop star Madonna and her husband, which is part of the procedure to allow them to adopt a one-year-old boy from Malawi, a welfare officer said Saturday.

"There are no adequate financial resources for the inspection, but as soon as the government has money, we will do it," Penston Kilembe, director of Malawi's Ministry of Women and Child Development, told AFP.

Kilembe has been mandated by the country's high court to carry out the inspection.

Malawi is being run on piecemeal funds as a national budget is yet to be debated and passed following a rift between the minority government of President Bingu wa Mutharika and the country's powerful opposition.

Under an 18-month interim order granted to Madonna to adopt the Malawian toddler David Banda, the pop star should be visited at her home twice, Kilembe said.

He said the first inspection was due last month, and the last one should be done in April.

Kilembe said he was the only officer able to do the check-up, contradicting his minister Kate Kainja who said another officer currently studying in Britain should do the job to save funds.

Kainja, who is in Britain on a personal trip, told a local newspaper last week that Madonna, who would be required to fund Kilembe's trip to Britain, should not spend money on government officials.

"Let Madonna use that money on David (...). She should not spend more money on us", Kainja was quoted as saying.

Baby David has been living with Madonna and her husband, film-maker Guy Ritchie, since a court in Malawi granted them in October last year an interim order for 18 months.

Under that order, the high court appointed Kilembe as Banda's temporary guardian.

Chris Noth to reprise Mr. Big role

NEW YORK - Mr. Big and Carrie Bradshaw will be together again, this time on the big screen. Chris Noth, who played Sarah Jessica Parker's love interest on HBO's "Sex and the City," is slated to reprise his role in a feature film spun from the long-running TV series.

Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon will also reprise their roles for the romantic comedy, to be distributed by New Line Cinema in association with HBO.

"There is no need for funeral arrangements," said Michael Patrick King, who will direct the film. "I assure you that Mr. Big is a very `big' part of the `Sex and the City' movie."

"While I have not spoken to him myself, Chris Noth assures me that Mr. Big is alive and well and ready to report to the set in September," King said in a statement Wednesday.

King was one of the executive producers of the TV series, which ended in 2004.

Noth, 50, plays police Detective Mike Logan on NBC's "Law & Order: Criminal Intent."

Lohan's Parents Near Divorce Agreement

Lohan's Parents Near Divorce Agreement

Lindsay Lohan's estranged parents could settle their long-simmering divorce as soon as next week, a judge said Friday.

"My understanding is that we are extremely close to crafting an agreement?" state Supreme Court Justice Robert A. Ross asked attorneys for Michael and Dina Lohan.

John DiMascio Jr., who represents Michael Lohan, said after an hourlong closed conference involving the couple and their lawyers that "minor points" still preclude a settlement, but he expressed confidence they could be resolved before Aug. 17, the next scheduled court date.

Neither DiMascio nor Dina Lohan's attorney, Warren Quaid, would discuss any details of the proposed accord.

The Lohans were close to an agreement on a divorce settlement in 2005, but that deal collapsed while Michael was serving a prison term for drunken driving, brawling with his brother-in-law and other charges. He was released in March and entered a Christian-based drug and rehabilitation center in West Babylon.

It wasn't immediately clear how a divorce settlement would affect Michael Lohan's request for visitation of his two youngest children, Aliana, 13, and her brother, Dakota, 10. The visitation issue is being decided by a Family Court judge, who has ordered that a review by a family therapist be completed by Sept. 6.

Since Lindsay, 21, and another brother, Michael, 19, are no longer minors, they are not subject to Family Court edicts.

Neither parent commented on the whereabouts of their movie star daughter, who was arrested last month for investigation of misdemeanor driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license and felony cocaine possession.

The "Mean Girls" star has been the subject of intense speculation since her arrest, which came just two weeks after she was released from her second stint in rehab this year.

Various media reports have placed her in a rehab facility in Utah, but no one is speaking on the record.

"She's wonderful," is all that Dina Lohan would share about her daughter.

Lohan's Dad Fires Back at Bodyguard

HOLLYWOOD - Lindsay Lohan's angry father, Michael, has fired back at criticism one of the actress' former bodyguards made about his parenting skills.

Minder Tony Almeida, who worked for Lohan for three years, hit the headlines earlier this week when he accused of Michael and his wife Dina of failing to provide the 21-year-old with any structure in In Touch magazine.

Almeida went so far as to blame Lohan's parents for the actress' current problems, stating they kept her working to pay for their lifestyle.

Michael responds, "It is sad to say, but Tony Almeida is a desperate and disgruntled employee who is destitute and will do anything for money. In doing this he has violated a confidentiality agreement, which proves his lack of integrity.

"Yet again, this is an instance of someone living off Lindsay and our family for their own personal gain."

And Michael is particularly disturbed by one of the bodyguard's claims, insisting he does not remember attacking his daughter after dragging her from his car on the Long Island Expressway.

Almeida said, "He slammed on the brakes and dragged her out of the car, pushed her up against the hood and called her a slut... I got in the middle of it and pulled him off."

But Michael states the incident is a figment of the minder's imagination and claims he has video proof that will show a lot of Almeida's other accounts are inaccurate or false.

Full Biography

When it came time to find a young actress to assume the role of the twins (originated by Hayley Mills) for the 1998 remake of the film "The Parent Trap," an exhaustive casting search occurred throughout the USA, Canada and even in London. Perhaps because the behind-the-scenes figures opted to avoid the obvious and cast the Olsen twins, thousands of girls were considered. After three callbacks and a screen test with stars Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson, freckle-faced Long Islander, Lindsay Lohan, won the role. Although she was just 11 years old when she was cast, she had an impressive resume. As the lovely redhead grew into adulthood, she continued to impress critics and gain fans of all ages – but most particularly, the ‘tween set who grew up along with her. After making her star-making turn in the hit comedy, “Mean Girls,” and her first adult romance with actor Wilmer Valderrama, Lohan became a favorite of the press. But once the still underage actress began hitting the town, losing drastic weight and getting into numerous fender benders – to say nothing of her numerous trips to the hospital for various reasons – it was then that the tabloids and blog sites began referencing her wild child ways more than her still consistently good work on screen.
Born July 2, 1986 in New York City, NY, Lindsay Morgan Lohan was the oldest child of four born to mother Dina Lohan, a former Radio City Rockette, and Michael Lohan, a long-time Wall Street trader. Their daughter began modeling at age three and was purported to be the first red-haired child signed by the Ford Modeling Agency. TV commercials for various products followed, including a Jell-O spot with pitchman Bill Cosby. Lohan also had recurring roles on two daytime dramas – CBS' "Guiding Light" and as Ali Fowler on NBC's "Another World" – before she landed the first movie role for which she ever auditioned. Playing twins separated at birth – one American and one British – for "The Parent Trap" remake, she turned in a delightful and skilled performance which led to numerous offers for the youngster. Lohan next filmed the telepic "Life-Size" (2000) – originally a "Wonderful World of Disney" production later released on home video – opposite Tyra Banks as a Barbie-style doll come-to-life – part of Lohan's three-picture deal with Disney. In 2000, Lohan was cast as Bette Midler's teen daughter on the short-lived CBS sitcom, "Bette" (2000). After shooting the pilot episode, the show's producers decided it would be easier on the L.A.-based crew if filming moved to California, so Lindsay gave up the role to stay in New York.

Finding consistent work, Lohan next played Lexy Gold in the Disney Channel telepic, "Get a Clue" (2002). The young actress also pursued a musical career when Emilio Estefan, Jr. took her under his professional wing in 2002, offering up a five-album production deal and the promise of an aggressive effort to sell her popular style "with a rock edge" to a major record label. The busy youngster also worked as a model for Abercrombie & Fitch Kids (A&F Kids) and Calvin Klein Kids.

Lohan continued her relationship with the Mouse Factory, signing on to play Anna Coleman in the theatrical remake of the body-swapping comedy "Freaky Friday" (2003) opposite Jamie Lee Curtis as the mother-and-daughter team who wake up one day in each other's bodies. The film was a surprise summer hit, generating over $100 million at the box office and raising Lohan's profile even further. Also helpful was a well reported public feud with fellow teen queen Hilary Duff, after the two briefly shared a boyfriend, singer Aaron Carter. Like Duff, she also incorporated her singing career into her acting gig, with the "Freaky Friday" soundtrack including her debut single, "Ultimate." Lohan returned to the big screen by carrying the chick-flick comedy, "Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen" (2004) on her solo shoulders. In the film, Lohan played Lola, an egocentric teen uprooted from her home town who feels the world revolves around her and finds herself competing for attention in Manhattan, using grander and grander schemes. The actress provided vocals on four songs from the film's soundtrack, including "Drama Queen (That Girl)," "What Are You Waiting For," "A Day in the Life" and a medley that incorporated the original song "Don't Move On" with her take on Stevie Wonder's "Living for the City" and David Bowie's "Changes."

Next up was a slightly edgier role – one that would make her an international star and change the course of her life, elevating her to A-list status. Taking on the lead in "Mean Girls" (2004), a funny if familiar comedy penned by Tina Fey, which explored the in-fighting amongst a clique of catty high school girls, Lohan helped lead the film to box office success and watched it firmly cement her star power – this time, even beyond her teen and 'tween core audience. Under the wing of new mentor Tommy Mottola, the famed head of Sony Music, Lohan also released her first full album, Speak, which swiftly achieved platinum status and featured the single "Rumors," in which she decried the gossipy buzz that had begun to surround her every move.

Indeed, the young actress' rapidly maturing body and youthful sex appeal – combined with a burgeoning reputation for enjoying the Hollywood night life, despite being underage – suddenly made her regular fodder for celebrity gossip. These same publications dutifully covered her denials about having received breast implants, her brief 2004 relationship with TV actor Wilmer Valderrama, her alleged hard-partying ways, an aggressive paparazzi pursuit that resulted in a fender bender, and – after her figure had turned voluptuous and her titian hair became her trademark – her eyebrow-raising rapid weight loss (which the actress attributed to a healthier lifestyle) and new look as a bottled blonde. The actress also had to deal with press reports regarding her estranged father Michael Lohan, whose alleged substance abuse and short temper (he reportedly threatened the lives of his ex-wife and children) resulted in several brushes with the law, including a legal restraining order preventing him from contact with his family and jail time for a litany of legal offenses, including assaulting his brother-in-law at his son's first communion party, violating terms of his restraining order and a 2005 drunk driving crash in which his vehicle struck a utility pole in Long Island and caught fire. Further estranging his famous daughter, he also sought to claim a percentage of his offspring's earnings.

Despite all the lurid press, Lohan's popularity continued unabated and Disney cast her in further family fare, this time in the remake of the studio's famous "Love Bug" franchise, "Herbie: Fully Loaded" (2005) as a young girl who inherits the legendary Volkswagen Beetle and takes it to the NASCAR race circuit. The Mouse House did have some concerns about the voluptuous Lohan's image in regards to how their young audience might react, spending considerable sums to digitally decrease her growing bust size after it was deemed distracting.

In 2005, a mounting pile of scandalous headlines began plaguing the actress. She was rushed to the hospital during filming of “Herbie,” reportedly due to “exhaustion.” This would not be the last time Lohan would be hospitalized for a variety of ailments. She was in her second auto accident of the year, again blaming pursuing paparazzi. Her private life made headlines for the umpteenth time that year when she confessed to Vanity Fair that she had indeed experienced an eating disorder earlier that year – specifically, bulimia – that accounted for her significant weight loss and that she was shocked back to healthier ways after being confronted by "Saturday Night Live" (NBC, 1975- ) producer Lorne Michaels and head writer Tina Fey while hosting the show that year. She also admitted to experimenting with drugs. The cover story was released just as Lohan was hospitalized for a reported asthma attack in Miami after ringing in 2006. Within a week, Lohan denied having made the statements to the magazine, saying her words were "misconstrued." The magazine stood by the story.

After moving on from Disney – and consequently her childhood image – Lohan began taking on more womanly parts in impressive ensembles and holding her own opposite some of Hollywood's most admired talents. She joined the impressive cast of Emilio Estevez's independent film "Bobby" (2006) – which included Anthony Hopkins and Sharon Stone – about the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, and costarred opposite Oscar-winner Meryl Streep in Robert Altman's last film, "A Prairie Home Companion" – both released in 2006. She costarred with her reported off-screen love interest, Jared Leto, in "Chapter 27" (2007), an indie film about a woman who befriends Mark David Chapman during the weekend that he kills John Lennon in New York City. Although she continued to land roles in impressive films opposite heavyweight actors like Jane Fonda in "Georgia Rule" (2007) – the film she was making when its producers made public a scolding letter to curb her on set tardiness from all the partying – Lohan's increasingly erratic behavior and seemingly non-stop personal drama began shifting the focus from her undeniable onscreen talent to being the punchline of jokes.

For La Lohan, as she was being called on the internet, 2006 was more one long banner tabloid headline than a focus on career. If she was not caught getting out of boats and cars sans panties, she was getting into fights with fellow party girls like Paris Hilton. In fact, Hilton and her fellow trust fund baby, Brandon Davis, coined the term, “firecr*tch” in reference to Lohan, after both were caught on tape by TMZ.com mocking the actress in graphic terms. Celebrity bloggers and tabloids lived for Lohan's every move throughout the year, reporting gleefully on her relationships gone awry – including a summer romance with restaurant heir, Harry Morton – or her numerous trips to the hospital for "exhaustion." It was little wonder, that by year's end, GQ magazine named Lohan their “Obsession of the Year." At the time the magazine threw their annual party to celebrate their year-end issue, Lohan allegedly made a scene after seeing her ex-personal assistant in attendance and forced Al Gore to publicly denounce having spoken at length with her that night. Following only days later, the press reported – and Lohan later confirmed but downplayed – that a doctor was called to the Chateau Marmont for a rumored Lohan overdose. This shocking announcement was followed in quick succession by her mother Dina Lohan admitting on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show that her daughter had begun attending Alcoholics Anonymous.

Fans hoped that the actress would ease up on her fast track lifestyle and get back to the basics – her undeniable ability to light up the big screen with her luminous beauty and charm. Only weeks into the new year, however, Lohan was back in the news for entering rehab, reportedly at Wonderland Treatment Center in L.A., and released the statement that ""I have made a proactive decision to take care of my personal health. I appreciate your well wishes and ask that you please respect my privacy at this time." For a spell, it seemed as though she had her priorities in order. But on May 26, 2007, Lohan was driving down Sunset Boulevard at 5:30 am and lost control of her Mercedes-Benz, crashing into a hedge and fleeing the scene of the accident. Police found a small amount of what they believed was a “usable amount” of cocaine. Three days after the accident, Lohan checked herself into Promises Treatment Center in Malibu, CA. She left rehab in late-June and voluntarily agreed to wear an alcohol-monitoring device, something she enjoyed showing off to friends and paparazzi while being seen partying about town.

Then on July 2, 2007, Lohan turned 21 and was finally able to drink legally. A couple of weeks later, she quietly surrendered to Beverly Hills Police for her Memorial Day weekend incident and faced charges for a misdemeanor hit and run, and driving under the influence. Mere days after turning herself in, however, Lohan was again the victim of her own circumstances. On July 24, 2007, the of-age starlet was arrested in Santa Monica shortly after midnight. Police said they received a frantic call of a car chase on Pico Boulevard – it turned out that the vehicle in pursuit was driven by Lohan, and the vehicle being chased was driven by the mother of Lohan’s personal assistant, who had quit her employment earlier in the evening. Lohan was taken into custody in the parking lot of the Santa Monica Civic Center, registering a blood alcohol level of about 0.12, well above the California legal limit of 0.08. She was later charged with suspicion of drunken driving, possession of cocaine, bringing a controlled substance into custody and driving on a suspended license. Lohan was released on $25,000 bail and was set to be arraigned on August 24, 2007 – the same day she was scheduled to appear in Beverly Hills for her Memorial Day weekend DUI.

Rowling loses London court battle over pictures of son

Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling Tuesday lost a court fight in London to ban publication of a photograph of her young son.

Rowling, whose seventh and final Potter book was released worldwide last month to a frenzy of excitement and record sales, had argued at the High Court that her son David's right to privacy was invaded by the picture.

The photograph, showing Rowling and her husband Neil Murray with the child in a buggy, was taken by a picture agency photographer using a long-range lens in a street in her home city of Edinburgh in 2004.

The boy, now aged four, was 20 months old at the time.

Rowling and Murray took action in the child's name against the agency, Big Pictures (UK) and Express Newspapers, seeking damages and an injunction banning further publication of the shot or any others of the boy.

But the court ruled that the law would not allow Rowling to carve out a press-free zone for her children and struck out proceedings against the photo agency. Express Newspapers had separately settled the claim.

Rowling and her husband were ordered to pay the photo agency 40,000 pounds (59,000 euros, 81,000 dollars) interim costs pending the outcome of an appeal.

Lindsay Lohan back in rehab: report

Troubled actress Lindsay Lohan has entered an alcohol rehabilitation center for the third time this year following her arrest last month for drink-driving, a report said Monday.

Lohan, 21, has checked into the Cirque Lodge drug and alcohol treatment center in Utah for an intensive 30-day program, CBS television's "The Insider" entertainment show reported on its website.

The actress arrived at the facility over the weekend, "The Insider" reported, citing sources within the facility. Lohan's representative Leslie Sloan was not immediately available to comment.

Lohan, the star of "Georgia Rule" and "Herbie Fully Loaded," was arrested in California for drunk-driving and drug charges on July 24, just days after completing a stint in rehab following an arrest in May on similar charges.

Lohan has already undergone two separate spells in rehab this year.

In January she was treated at the Wonderland Center in Los Angeles after reportedly being found passed out in a hotel corridor following the Golden Globes awards in Beverly Hills.

She later enrolled at the Promises center in Malibu after her May 26 arrest for drunk-driving and drug possession.

Lohan faces a court hearing on August 24 over the two cases against her.

Kirsten Dunst Annoys Her Neighbors

In an attempt to preserve their way of life, angry residents in Islington have submitted a petition to their local council in an attempt to quiet down Kirsten Dunst. The center of controversy is a growing belief among the locals that the Spiderman actress is changing their quite community into a party town with her late night festivities.

It appears that Dunst, a new resident to the community, has developed the habit of visiting the local pubs and then inviting all of the locals at closing back to her place. According to the Daily Mail “When closing time comes she invites them all round to her house to continue the party. But it seems the noise levels and people coming and going at all hours is getting to her neighbors.”

"Kirsten isn’t very popular in Islington at the moment. The locals are incensed that she’s changing the tone of the area. They’ve had enough and apparently three families have written a petition to the council in the hope they’ll take some action.”

When asked, Islington officials would neither confirm nor deny the petition, stating that all complaints are private matters. However, where there is smoke you will typically find fire, so stay tuned for what will be the next installment of a potential new reality TV show, Celebrity Neighbors from Hell.

Sims dined with Spears and a mystery man at Winston's in West Hollywood on Thursday after the pop star asked her cousin to assist her until she finds someone full-time.

Sims, who quit Britney's employ to concentrate on her singing career, agreed.

A source says, "Britney and Alli split on really good terms and Alli was very good at her job, so Britney wanted her back almost as soon as she'd quit.

"Britney was particularly impressed when Alli stood up for her and insisted she was a great mom in a recent interview with People magazine. She knows Alli is someone she can trust."
